Q: Where is the Playtrail located?
A: The Playtrail is located within the Greater Shantallow area of Derry, on the Racecourse Road. It is within the grounds of Belmont House and Foyle View Schools adjacent to the entrance to St Patrick's Primary Pennyburn.
Q: What activities are available?
A: The Playtrail contains the following completed areas; a large adventure play area which includes a 20m 'zip' slide, a unique sensory garden containing specialised equipment to excite the senses of children & young people, a junior play area, an impressive 200 seater outdoor auditorium, nature trail and Playtrail Visitor Centre. We have also recently completed the construction of a unique straw bale environmental house, the Eco-Base, which combines a number of sustainable build techniques and is a great educational teaching tool for children. Work has also been completed on our Green Finger's Allotment Project - a community horticulture scheme that includes 60 allotments, 20 raised beds, ploy tunnel and much more. The 1km trail network, that links all the areas, also includes an orienteering course & trim trail and is fully accessible to all.
Q: How can our family/group/school avail of the Playtrail facilites?
A: Families are asked to make a small voluntary donation while there is a fixed fee structure for all visiting groups. All users of the Playtrail must sign-in upon arrival at the Playtrail Offices.
